“We can bring your coffee out to you.” “Werd.”
Ugh. Clientele in Baltimore are so much more hip than in DC.
Stopping into Dooby’s in Baltimore recently, I was excited to grab a nibble of Korean food and caffeinate before continuing on a day-long marathon of beer, food, and thrift store shopping, which culminated in the purchase of a Ricky Martin “Livin La Vida” t-shirt. To quote the cashier: “I thought no one would ever buy this.”
Dooby’s was not what I expected. It’s technically a cafe, as they do meals all day, rather than just coffee and pastries. Customers order at the counter and wait for the food to be brought to their seat. In our case, it was not yet 11AM, but they allowed my sister to order pork buns and dumplings (warning: the pork is the extra fatty kind), while I stuck to an avocado toast. The menu had several appealing items, and the donuts on display looked absolutely AMAZING.
Funky music played in the background and a few tables outside give you the option of people watching in warm weather. This hip café is decorated with hanging air plants and the place has a Scandinavian feel to it, fit with white walls, and yellow and wood chairs.
Its location is not far from the train station, making it an ideal pit stop if visiting Baltimore for an outing or weekend. Grab some pastries and a mug of coffee before you explore the rest of Bal’more.
