A guide to coffee shops by a coffee shop lover

Panther Coffee

The heat in Miami was disgusting. It was a sunny day in October, but the humidity made it hard to breathe. Outside, flocks of attractive, hip young people were strung around the neighborhood, known for its beautiful murals and specifically, Wynwood walls.

Although I had to catch a flight, a beautiful little Israeli girl I’d met earlier in the day insisted that we stop by for what she claimed to be the best coffee in the world. Specifically, the vanilla latte with macadamia nut milk. Truth be told, it was delicious. Stepping into the shop, we were already in line as the packed store had a line right to the entrance. The busy area to the left hosted some disarrayed tables at which people were meeting up. To the left of the line was a large table, with other guests. Dark and brown, the entire space was too busy to be very clean. Brown and burlap seemed to be the theme and far to the end of the café was a roasting machine, being put to use.

The staff were largely busy young women, hair slightly disarrayed, all wearing black or dark clothing. Despite the hectic atmosphere, they were all very amiable and did not rush anyone as could have been the case.

During weekdays, they offer sandwiches. Though they weren’t available, they offered to make me an empanada, which would take just 3 minutes to prepare.
